BeenVerified Alternatives: 6 Ways to Skip the Monthly Plan

CatchNumber Editorial Team约 4 分钟阅读

Cost comparison diagram: BeenVerified's $36.89 monthly subscription on one side against six one-off options — CatchNumber credit packs, a Whitepages single lookup, a short Spokeo plan, free directories, Google search and your carrier — from $0 to $3.95.

BeenVerified is the most expensive mainstream way to look up a phone number, and the only one of the big three that will not sell you a single report at any price. If you want one answer about one number, it is structurally the wrong product — not because the data is bad, but because the smallest thing you can buy is a month.

Here is what it costs, and six ways to get the same answer without a monthly plan.

What BeenVerified charges

As listed in October 2026: about $36.89 for a single month, or roughly $23.98 a month billed quarterly — $71.94 up front. Both tiers include 100 reports. There is also a $1 seven-day trial from time to time, which converts to a full subscription unless you cancel before it ends.

There are no single reports. That is the whole issue: the cheapest way to check one number through BeenVerified is $36.89, or $1 and a reminder in your calendar.

To be fair to it, the reports are thorough, and for someone doing regular background research — a landlord vetting applicants through the proper channels, a journalist, a recruiter working inside the law — 100 reports for $24 a month is reasonable value. For a missed call it is absurd.

Six ways to avoid the subscription

1. CatchNumber — one-time credit packs

Ours, so check it rather than take our word. The free pass returns validity, carrier where available, line type and region for a number in any country, at no cost and with no account. A full report — owner records and linked public profiles where sources hold them — is a one-time credit pack from $3.95. Nothing renews.

Honest comparison: BeenVerified holds more US identity data than we do, and our carrier field is often blank on US landlines. What you are trading depth for is the absence of a billing relationship.

2. Whitepages — $1.99 for one lookup

The cheapest paid single answer available. Around $1.99 for one premium lookup, with monthly plans (roughly $5.99 for 20 lookups, $22.99 for 100) if you later find you need them. Strong on US landlines and businesses, thin outside the United States. Its separate free app covers more than 200 million landline and business numbers at no cost — try that before paying anything.

3. Spokeo’s three-month plan, cancelled immediately

If you need Spokeo’s depth specifically, the three-month plan at roughly $14.95/month ($44.85 up front) is the predictable option. Avoid the $0.95 trial: ConsumerAffairs reviewers repeatedly describe it converting to a recurring charge, one reporting $29.95 a month after being unable to cancel. Buy the plan knowingly, run your searches, cancel the same day.

4. The free US directories

TruePeopleSearch, That’sThem, AnyWho, ZabaSearch and FastPeopleSearch all run free reverse phone searches with no signup. They work from public records, so they are strongest on landlines and weakest on mobiles, and their pages are dense with ads that look like results. Between them they cover a surprising amount of what a paid report would show for a US landline — for free, in a few minutes.

5. A quoted Google search

Thirty seconds, no cost. Put the number in quotation marks. Any number that has bothered a lot of people will show up in complaint forums and scam-warning threads immediately. This is the single highest-value free step and most people skip it.

6. Your carrier

Overlooked entirely. If a number is harassing you, your mobile operator can block it and, in many countries, investigate it — which is more useful than knowing the owner’s name. In the United States, reporting through the FCC’s robocall channel does more than any lookup will.

When BeenVerified is genuinely the right choice

It is a real product and there are cases for it. If you are going to run more than about fifteen reports in a quarter, the quarterly plan is cheaper per report than anything else here. If you need address history and relatives rather than just a name on a number, it holds more than the free directories ever will. And if you are doing this as part of a job rather than a one-off worry, a subscription is the honest shape for the usage.

What it is not is a way to find out who rang you once on Tuesday.

The limits that apply to all of them

Caller ID is trivially spoofed, so the number may have no connection to whoever called — which makes a clean report on a spoofed number worthless. An empty report means the sources hold nothing, which is routine for new and prepaid numbers and is not a clean bill of health. US coverage is far better than anywhere else. And none of these services, BeenVerified included, is FCRA-compliant: they may not be used for decisions about employment, credit, housing, tenancy or insurance, whatever the marketing implies.

常见问题

Can I buy a single BeenVerified report?

No. BeenVerified sells no individual reports, so the cheapest way to check one number is a month's subscription at about $36.89, or a $1 seven-day trial that converts unless cancelled. Whitepages sells single lookups at around $1.99 and CatchNumber sells one-time credits from $3.95.

How much does BeenVerified cost per month?

Roughly $36.89 for one month, or about $23.98 a month billed quarterly at $71.94. Both tiers include 100 reports, which makes it reasonable value for regular research and poor value for a single missed call.

When is BeenVerified actually worth it?

When you will run more than roughly fifteen reports in a quarter, or when you need address history and relatives rather than just a name on a number. For a one-off check it is the wrong shape of product.

What is the cheapest way to look up one phone number?

Free first: search the number in quotation marks on Google, then try the free US directories. If those come back empty, Whitepages' single lookup at around $1.99 or a one-time credit pack is cheaper than any subscription.
